Jr. Academy

Jr. Academy is the next stage of development after Canskate Star. This program, taught by Cheam's Skate Canada certified coaches, is for skaters who demonstrate enhanced ability to pursue figure skating and continues to introduce skaters to the foundations of figure skating after Canskate Star. Skaters in the Jr. Academy program participate in 2-3 skating sessions as well as 2-3 off ice classes per week.

This program is by invitation only, skaters must be invited to the Jr. Academy program by coaches.

Program Information and FAQ
Dress Code
Skaters in Jr. Academy are required to wear form fitted clothing and have long hair tied back. Skaters may wear leggings or a skating skirt/dress and a yoga style jacket. Hoods, jeans, baggy and large bulky clothing are not permitted. Skaters are required to wear a CSA Approved Hockey Helmet.

What skates should I buy for my Jr. Academy Skater?
Jr. Academy is an introduction to figure skating program therefore figure skates are required for the class. The figure skates your skater wears should provide proper ankle support.

What equipment is required for off ice?
Skaters are required to have a rubber jump rope, good running shoes and a water bottle.

How many sessions does my skater participate in?
Skaters in Jr. Academy are required to skate in 2-3 on and off classes per week.

How can my skater join the class?
