CanSkate:
CanSkate, is a national program designed by Skate Canada and used as a learn-to-skate program, designed for beginners of all ages. On the first session the participants will be assessed and placed in a group according to their ability. Our CanSkate program teaches the "proper way" to skate through a series of levels that the skater learns at their own pace. When you sign up for CanSkate you will be in a program that has six different levels, with an optional seventh level. This program focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. Participants will learn forward and backward skating, stopping, turning and many other skills to build a solid foundation for all types of skating. Within this program participants will receive badges when they complete each level. Participants are taught by a NCCP certified coach(s) and Program Assistant(s), when available. Gloves are mandatory and a CSA approved hockey helmet is mandatory until the skater has successfully completed Level 5, face mask is recommended. This program runs for 45 minutes in length.
